Quilting update - 2021

Concordia Lutheran Church Women (WELCA) have had a busy year, despite the virus and all the restrictions placed on distancing and also personal decisions about gathering in groups.  Last year there were 136 quilts sent to Lutheran World Relief which was an all time record for the group.  The backs and quilt fronts are assembled by Barbara Quesinberry and Judy Glover.  The backs and fronts are put together with poly fill batting, edges sewn and then hand tied by the ladies each Monday morning at 9:00 am.  Lutheran World Relief distributes these quilts world wide to those in need of warmth and comfort  due to natural disasters, war and poverty.  Pat Spiecker is the expert at putting the backs and fronts together with batting and pinning everything together waiting for Barbara Quesinberry or Louise Crouse to sew the quilts together. Many thanks to those who tie knots- Dorothy Buchmann, Veronica Kegris and Gere Moylon along with Millie Heathcote who works from home.  This year there will be at least 137 quilts ready to be taken to a central distribution point for Lutheran World Relief.   The prayers for God's love, grace and peace go along with the quilts as they bring  comfort to those in need.  The photo shows many boxes of quilts that are labeled and ready for shipment. Pat Spiecker and Dorothy Buchmann are shown folding one more quilt to be added to the total.  One added feature from LWR is that the bar coding system gives them the opportunity to tell us where the quilts were sent.  It provided the quilters with an opportunity to know that they have been the hands that supported God's work in our world.
